Intake Criteria: The Right Fit for the Tower
Fuzzy Towers Animal Foundation is a specialized micro-rescue. We currently partner with the LASPCA, both Main Campus in Algiers and Plaquemines Parish Campus in Belle Chasse, as a transfer partner with "rescue pull" privileges. Because we operate with a focused mission and a small, dedicated foster network, we have specific criteria to ensure every animal gets the high-touch medical attention they require.
Have you found a stray dog or cat that needs eyeball help? Work with the LASPCA, let them know you think this animal should be considered for the Fuzzy Towers Animal Foundation program, and they'll take it from there. Submit a Found Pet report here: https://www.louisianaspca.org/humane-law/lost-and-found/report-found-pet/
We consider adoptable animals from the LASPCA on a case-by-case basis, with a focus on those who are medically stable enough for foster-based recovery.
Size Requirements (Dogs): We currently specialize in "Small-but-Mighty" dogs—25 lbs or under.
Species: We accept both dogs and cats with specialized ophthalmological needs.
Behavioral Health: Candidates must have no documented history of aggression or significant behavioral issues. Our fosters are medical specialists, not behavioral rehabilitators; our animals to be safe handling-partners for frequent eye drop administration.
General Health: Aside from their ophthalmological condition, animals should be otherwise healthy and cleared by shelter staff to enter a home environment.
We know that in high-intake shelter environments, animals with "expensive" medical needs can be the most vulnerable. We give immediate consideration to those animals who are at risk of being overlooked due to shelter capacity or length-of-stay constraints. If an animal's only barrier to adoption is an eye condition, we want to help.
Are you a shelter representative with an animal candidate for Fuzzy Towers? We prioritize cases based on medical urgency and foster availability.
Flag a Case: Email us at fuzzytowersanimalfoundation@gmail.com with "MEDICAL PULL" in the subject line.
Send Records: Please include all intake notes and any preliminary vet assessments.
Coordination: We will respond within 24 hours to coordinate a rescue pull and transport.
Note: We are currently focused on the Greater New Orleans area (LASPCA) to ensure our animals can reach our partner specialists in Metairie and Mid-City quickly.
