Kamal is currently pursuing his doctoral degree with our team. He completed his B.Sc. in Agriculture from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya and his M.Sc. in Life Sciences from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur. He is investigating the role of KRAB-ZFPs in breast cancer. His other interests are reading novels and playing video games.
Sivakami is a Ph. D. student in our lab. She completed her Master's in Botany from Kerala University, Trivandrum. Her interest lies in molecular biology, and she is especially curious to explore the uncharted territories in epigenetics and non-coding RNAs in cancer biology. She is focusing on epigenetic regulation of cancer stem cells to unravel mechanisms driving therapy resistance and tumor recurrence. Other than academics, she also likes cooking and listening to music.
Shihabudeen joined our team as a Ph.D. student in January 2025. He completed his B.Sc. in Zoology from Kerala University and his M.Sc. in Zoology from Central University of Kerala. He is focusing on epigenetic regulation of retrotransposon-mediated viral mimicry in breast cancer. Other than research, he likes reading novels, playing cricket, and listening to music.
Soumi is a Project Assistant in our laboratory. She also did her Master's dissertation with us. She earned her M.Sc. in Biomedical Genetics from Vellore Institute of Technology. She is interested in exploring gene deregulation and its influence on human disease pathogenesis, especially cancer. At FGBL, she is working on the molecular mechanisms underlying retrotransposon expression and its influence on breast cancer pathogenesis. Away from the lab, she is interested in drawing and traveling.
Ardra is a Ph.D. student in our group. She completed her Master's degree in Zoology from Vimala College, Thrissur. She is interested in understanding how tumor suppressors and oncogenes regulate retrotransposons. Apart from research, she enjoys singing and dancing.
Oisi joined our group in January 2026 for her Master’s dissertation. She is studying the role of PRMT5 in suppressing viral mimicry. She is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying epigenetic modifications and their role in maintaining genome integrity. Outside of research, she enjoys reading books, singing, and listening to music.
