Our laboratory at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in Trivandrum focuses on unraveling the functional roles of the non-coding parts of the human genome. We study DNA elements such as retrotransposons, long non-coding RNAs and enhancers and their roles in disease pathogenesis. We use a combination of functional genomics and computational approaches to understand the genetic and epigenetic underpinnings of diseases such as cancer with the goal of advancing biomedicine. We are also fairly collaborative and are actively working on projects that aim to discern epigenetic mechanisms underlying diabetic complications and cardiovascular diseases.
