The Raven

In celebration of Opera Philadelphia's production of Toshio Hosokawa's "The Raven," the Free Library of Philadelphia's Special Collections have put together this collection of material related to Poe, his poem, and Grip, his inspiration.

Items from our Digital Collections

Housed in the Rare Book Department, this is the only copy of Poe's poem in his hand in its entirety anywhere in the world. Use the "View other associated items" to see all four pages.

Grip herself lives in the Rare Book Department, but she is behind a couple of layers of glass and can be hard to photograph. This photo was taken when she was outside of her exterior display case.
