This program has been around for more than 50 years. It started out as an FUMC youth group event but over time it has expanded into an intergenerational program open to everyone in the community. We see this program beyond just an opportunity to put on a great show and have fellowship with one another. It's about learning what it takes to be part of a team, a safe place to get to know people young and old who you might not otherwise connect with, for families to do something together over the summer that brings you closer together, for individuals who are looking for connection, and for young people to deepen their friendships. We have a very short, yet intense rehearsal schedule and because of this those of you who might be more familiar with theater production might see somethings we do differently. This is done with positive intent to both create a community and the best show possible. There is no cost to participate and there is no cost to attend the show. We do have a few rules which includes volunteering for important aspect of this program:
First and foremost, have fun, keep it safe, play, work hard, make friends, do good.
Second, you must, no exception complete the Parent Forms and or if you are over 18 the Participant Forms which are all combined. There you will also see some information understanding our guidelines for physical and emotional safety, some permissions to allow contact and pictures for marketing the show to our community.
Third, any child 6th grade or under must have an adult on site. This is not a drop off program. We have lots adults around but for safety reasons we need parents to stay on campus if their children are below 7th grade.
Lastly, we need volunteers to make this happen. Each family or adult must take one night as the Adult on Duty (see Volunteer Activities tab for more info). Each family or adult needs to commit to reach out to family and friends to sell "Dinners before the Show" as our primary fundraiser. We need lots of hands to support and sign ups the dinners and concessions sales. There is a sign up sheet and while some will not be able to do this because of call times, we ask that anyone who can support the efforts do so.
