2026-2027 Orchestra Audition Information

The Fulton County High School Honor Orchestra audition for the 2026–2027 school year will be conducted virtually.

AUDITION TIMELINE: 10/28/26 - 11/1/26

General Information:

The Fulton County High School Honor Orchestra audition for the 2026–2027 school year will be conducted virtually.

Teachers will register their students and submit a fee of $25 per student by the deadline (10/16/2026). The registration form and payment information/invoice will be available on the Fulton County High School Orchestra website during the first week of school. These materials will also be sent to teachers via email attachment.

Below are the details for the virtual audition:

1. Scales/Arpeggios
   The virtual audition will include the 9th/10th Grade First Round All-State Orchestra scale materials (see additional information regarding scales below).

2. Excerpt/Etude
   The assigned excerpt/etude will be the 2026–2027 9th/10th Grade First Round All-State audition excerpt/etude (available on the GMEA website). Students will not be required to perform the entire excerpt. A specific segment will be selected for performance. This information will be available as soon as the All-State excerpt is posted on the GMEA website.

3. Sight-Reading
   There will be no sight-reading component.

4. Judging Panel
   The judging panel will not include any current high school orchestra directors from Fulton County Schools.

5. Video Submission
   Audition videos must be submitted by the teacher between 10/28/26 – 11/1/26. No later than Sunday, November 1, 2026 (midnight). Submissions should be provided as a shareable link that can be accessed by anyone with the link. Acceptable platforms include, but are not limited to, Google Drive and YouTube.

IMPORTANT:
It is strongly recommended that students submit their videos to their teacher prior to the November 1ST  deadline to allow sufficient time for troubleshooting and uploading.

Additional video recording tips and guidelines will be shared with teachers and students in early fall.

• STRING auditions will consist of two parts (Scales & Excerpt):
        1) Scales and Arpeggios

• Violin: (all scales with arpeggios)

  • G  Major Scale – separate bow (3 octaves)

  • A Major Scale – two-note slur (3 octaves)

  • G  Melodic Minor Scale – separate bow (3 octaves)

  • A  Melodic Minor Scale – two-note slur (3 octaves)

• Viola: (all scales with arpeggios)

  • C  Major Scale – separate bow (3 octaves)

  • D Major Scale – two-note slur (3 octaves)

  • C  Melodic Minor Scale – separate bow (3 octaves)

  • D  Melodic Minor Scale – two note slur (3 octaves)

• Cello: (all scales with arpeggios)

  • C  Major Scale – separate bow (3 octaves)

  • D Major Scale – two-note slur (3 octaves)

  • C  Melodic Minor Scale – separate bow (3 octaves)

  • D  Melodic Minor Scale – two-note slur (3 octaves)

• Double Bass: (all scales with arpeggios)

  • F  Major Scale – separate bow (2 octaves)

  • G Major Scale – two-note slur (2 octaves)

  • F  Melodic Minor Scale – separate bow (2 octaves)
