A Successful Initiative to Attract New Female Shooters
In an effort to grow the sport of clay shooting in Florida, the Florida Sporting Clays Association (FSCA), led by board member Louise Terry, launched a targeted initiative to attract more women. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by female newcomers, Louise Terry, along with a select group of passionate lady shooters (Lyn Cacella, Robin Mixon, Dee Orr and Connie McIntosh) created the Honeybelles program, a series of introductory clinics designed to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for women to learn the basics of shotgun shooting.
Led by a team of certified female instructors, the Honeybelles clinics offer a comprehensive curriculum, including classroom instruction, hands-on shooting, and personalized guidance. The program emphasizes safety, affordability, and fun, ensuring that participants feel comfortable and confident.
The clinics have been a resounding success, attracting a significant number of new female shooters. Past participants praised the supportive atmosphere, the knowledgeable instructors, and the opportunity to learn in a safe and inclusive environment. The Honeybelles program has proven to be a valuable tool for attracting and retaining female shooters, contributing to the growth and diversity of the sport.
