Field Study 2 (Participation and Teaching Assistantship) is a continuation of Field Study 1 (Observations of Teaching-Learning in Actual School Environment). It is school-based and allows a preservice student like me to participate and assist in limited actual teaching-learning activities that relate to the assessment of learning, preparation of instructional materials, preparation of bulletin boards, and other routines in the classroom.
I was blessed to be one of the Field Study students because I got to experience a lot of things. Through the help and assistance of our Resource Teacher, Mrs. Lovely Simon, I got to enhance my skills and abilities and my passion for teaching became stronger.
This portfolio contains my field experiences as a whole. It includes my pre-beliefs and post-beliefs on teaching and learning, a compilation of worksheets that I made in this course, evidence of learning, and reflection on the whole course. It also inserted in this portfolio my certificate of completion which proves that I completed all the requirements or episodes needed in this field study course.
I have completed 6 episodes in this course. These are making of a reflection on what a great teacher should possess, making an action research proposal, using traditional and authentic assessment in the classroom, preparing and utilizing instructional materials, classroom routines and assistantship specifically accomplishing school forms & grading and reporting, making lesson plans, and demonstration teaching. These experiences of mine mold me to become an efficient, effective, and productive teacher in the future.
Overall, I was trained in this field study course. The learnings and realizations I've got from this course will surely be applied shortly. In conclusion, I want to share a principle I've learned from this course. " A teacher should know the needs of every learner and be willing to meet all of these". That makes a teacher great and effective in the teaching and learning process.
