Learning & Content

The students of FMA (Fruitful Minds Academy) will learn by doing. Instead of iReady or WVGSA state testing, students will have portfolios showing grade level competency submitted to the board office. Instead of taking AR tests, students will read what interests them for the love of reading or to gain knowledge!  

Hearts and minds will be nurtured by weaving Christian values and the fruits of the spirit into daily learning.

Every child gets personalized attention, support, and space to grow. Because Fruitful Minds Academy is a classroom for mixed ages (1st-5th), it teaches real world social skills. Older students reinforce their knowledge by helping younger ones, while younger students get peer models to look up to. Everyone grows in confidence and leadership. 

Learning will focus on creativity, exploration, and real-world thinking. Students can apply what they learn in meaningful ways. Do they want to take apart a phone and put it back together? Do they want to build a house out of sticks? Do they want to paint portraits? Do they want to design and make clothes? Do they want to write novels? Do they like making music? All interests are welcome at Fruitful Minds Academy!

Lessons will be tailored to student interests and developmental needs.  WV grade level standards for reading and math will be taught in the way students need. (The bottom of this page lists standards by grade level.) Each student will have a specific learning plan called an APPLE Plan.
