LTTA in CYPRUS

THIRD MOBILITY – CYPRUS

22nd26th November 2020

6 students and 2 teachers took part in the virtual training event in Cyprus. The main topic of the mobility was – There are some ‘’roots’’ in my dish." All the activities were related to the cultural heritage of each of the countries as presenting traditional dances, family recipes, ingredients of the dishes, the way of preparation, also some local herbs.

Day 1 – 22nd November

On the first day, all the students and teachers were welcomed with traditional Cyprus music and dances by the school’s choir and orchestra which performed traditional songs. Then all of them gathered in the European conference room for the opening activities. We were greeted by the official guests. After that, each of the countries performed conventional dances in traditional costumes. We had prepared a video of the typical Polish folk dance. We were able to see a bit from the school tour thanks to the teachers and students showing it live on Messenger. Next the participants showed ppt presentations on a topic: ‘Traditional dishes’ by each of the teams.

Day 2 – 23rd November

On the second day, we started with some icebreaker tasks which helped all the students in transnational teams get to know each other and encouraged them to come up with words and phrases regarding their heritage and tradition, in order to build up a glossary of terms and phrases. This workshop contributed a lot to good talks and discussions between the students not only about the task but also to socialize and have fun. Later, each team presented what they did, the students were separated into mixed groups in order to work together.

In the afternoon, we had a chance to watch a Master Chef competition, only to watch through the computer screen and we sent the film of the winner of our school Masterchef Contest. The students showed how to cook our regional dish- cebularz. There was a workshop on the topic ‘Culture and heritage as a means of uniting people’. The students were working in internationa groups. We were conncting via Messenger.

Day 3 – 24th November

On the third day, we had an opportunity to only watch a seminar on the wine named ‘Comandria’ at the Historical Museum of Zoopigis. We couldn’t participate in the workshop there, we just listened to the lecture. We could ask some questions in order to clarify some of the things they told.

Days 4 and 5– 25th and 26th November

The group travelled to different places – they walked in Nikosia, in ‘Ledras’ street in old Nikosia; they visited ‘Vuoi Vavatsinias’ village, then they shared live by the visit the traditional village of ‘Lefkara’. The event finishet with an official dinner. During all these visits they shared with us a lot of photos and videos in order to imagine that we are with them, too.

Despite this virtual attendance to Larnaca, Cyprus, and the different experiences even in front of the computers, we appreciate that they could join this unusual mobility.

The project was led to the traditions and customs of each of the countries, discovering the history, nature, and cuisine of each of them.
