Policies and Procedures
Location:
The park is located on the triangle of land immediately south of the Heritage House across from the cemetery. In addition to the Grove of Maples, we intend to have a life size statue of St. Patrick in an appropriate setting such as a gazebo. We also have a "Hedge School" to represent the dedication of the Irish for the education of their children. Other memorials will be added as appropriate.
Purpose:
The park is intended to serve as a growing memorial to the individuals and families who contributed to the Maple Grove community. A memorial can be a single tree or a cluster of trees representing multiple generations of a family. While it is intended that most of the planting will be Maple trees, a variety of maple species and even some evergreen would be appropriate. The resulting park should indeed be a "grove of maples." Trees at least 1 1/2" diameter are preferred.
Control:
The park is controlled by the Board of Directors of Friends of St. Patrick's Inc. and has no connection with the former St. Patrick's Parish nor with Holy Family Parish of Brillion.
Establishing a Family Memorial Planting:
Any person or family wishing to have a tree or trees planted should contact the President of Friends to choose a location for the planting and to start the Family Tree Genealogy record. There is no cost for this. We ask for $500.00 per tree, which includes the tree, an engraved plaque, and Memorial Park maintenance and upkeep. A map of all trees will be on display in the Family Heritage Center along with all the family histories.
