Irish family histories sought

Friends of St. Patrick's Incorporated, a not-for-profit organization of Maple Grove, Manitowoc County, WI. The group was formed to preserve the memory of the founding families of this Irish community. The early settlers from Ireland and Scotland arrived in the early 1840's, many well ahead of the Great Famine and carved successful farms out of the Wisconsin wilderness. Their descendants have spread though out the United States. To date, over 15,000 descendants have been identified. The early settlers were soon joined by other from many western European countries especially Bohemia, Czechoslovakia and Germany.

Anyone who has complied a family history / genealogy of folks from this area, is encouraged to donate a copy to Friends of St. Patrick's Inc. The histories will be assembled, cross referenced and made available in the Heritage House next to St. Patrick's in Maple Grove.
