Tuesday, March 31st at 2:00 PM - The Museum of Work and Culture, a division of the Rhode Islan Historical Society will join us at the Senior Center for an interesting and informative talk.

Tuesday, April 28th at 2:00 PM - The History of the Ammidon Inn This presentation will take place at the Ammidon Inn.  Transportation from the Senior Center is provided.

Tuesday, May 26th at 2:00 PM - The Village Center, Mendon's Golden Age

Tuesday, June 30th at 2:00 PM - Mendon's Role in the Revolution

25th Annual Mendon Town Boat Race

The competition was fierce, but in the final seconds the Douglas Battle Axes pulled ahead to claim first place! While we finished a close second, the event was still a tremendous success for the Mendon Senior Center.

Led by Phil Cieply and Peg Nogueira, our boat-building crew poured creativity, teamwork, and many hours into crafting a vessel that was both accessible and seaworthy enough to brave the “high seas” of Lake Nipmuc. Once construction was complete, our cracker-jack decorating team transformed it into a casino-themed steamship, painted in bold red and black—a real head-turner on race day.

On the big day, our team was cheered on by a lively crowd of Seniors and townspeople, whose encouragement made all the difference. While the scoreboard shows second place, in our hearts we know our team were the real winners.

A big thank-you to everyone who constructed, rowed, painted, cheered, and made this year’s race one for the history books. Here’s to smooth sailing—and maybe a rematch next year!

JOKES MY IRISH FATHER TOLD ME

The Senior Center and the Friends of Mendon Seniors are please to announce a comedy program presented by comedian Dave Kane on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 11:00AM.  Dave brings a laugh filled presentation of jokes, one liners and stories that celebrate the warmth and resilience of the Irish sense of humor.  At 12.00 noon, following the program the Sr. Center will be offering a Baked Potato Bar featuring a selection of toppings including chili, broccoli, cheese sauce, salsa, sour cream, chives and bacon.  The cost of lunch is $3.00 the laughs that accompany the free comedy show are priceless.  Please stop by or call the Senior Center to sign up for one or both of these events.
