My class uses a 50/50 method. That means that some activities are on paper and some are digital. Students are expected to take notes on paper because writing by hand enhances brain activity and increases retention.
All students are expected to keep an organized physical binder where they can find their notes. The more the notes are used and reviewed the more learning that occurs.
Class activities are varied and include both digital and paper assignments.
Technology is our friend and all notes are provided digitally as well. I carefully choose educational videos for students who might need to review the content covered in class.
All classwork is also posted on the board in our classroom as well.
Our main online tools:
Wayground (formerly Quizizz) is a gamified formative and asessment tool.
Teachers can use it to instruct, review and assess student comprehension in a fun and engaging way.
Students are able to get instant feedback and compete with other students in the classroom.
Edpuzzle is an interactive content teaching tool.
Teachers can record themselves or choose pre-recorded videos about concepts covered in class.
The videos have questions along the way that will guide the students and help them reach understanding.
Roxxem is a language-learning platform that uses music to teach languages. It offers interactive song-based lessons where students learn lyrics line by line. The platform includes various games and study questions to reinforce vocabulary and phrases in small, manageable chunks. It also uses spaced repetition to help students retain what they've learned.
Classwork.com (formerly TeacherMade) is an online platform created by teachers for teachers. Teachers transform traditional worksheets and PDFs into interactive digital assignments. The platform supports a variety of question types, auto-grading, and integrates with Google Classroom.
Student can use the drawing tools to provide their responses. They can record their voice, highlight text, underline words, add images etc.
