I'm Madame Lopez. I am an educator with 24+ years of experience in language acquisition. I'm a South Texas native and a proud graduate of UTPA. I started taking French in high school just like you, and liked it enough to travel out of the valley to pursue the study of French. I studied in Canada at Université Laval and at La Sorbonne in France.
One of my goals, as your teacher, is to transmit the intense love I have for the study of French, as we complete our lessons throughout the year. I invite all of you to be active participants and not be afraid to make mistakes. It is through these mistakes that we can learn and achieve great things.
I am looking forward to meeting my new students and continue making progress with my "old" students. Together, we will have an awesome year. Vive le français!
I take pride in providing a comfortable and inviting learning environment for my students. We will get to know one another and learn French in the process.
Teaching teens is what keeps me young at heart and full of hope for the future. I'm glad there are students like you out there, who are willing to study something new. The world needs people willing to step out of their comfort zone in order to grow and advance as a society.
French is not easy, but it is not rocket science either! I will use what you already know, English, Spanish or both, to increase your vocabulary skills through the study of French.
Que l'apprentissage commence!
Let the learning begin!
Any student interested in joining and learning about the French-speaking world is welcome. Students need to be able to make time for the club and attend meetings regularly.
Students excelling in French are invited to participate. If they agree to the requirements and commit to be a member in good standing for the remainder of their high school career; they are inducted in the society.
Students need to have completed 3 semesters of French with a 90 or above and have an overall GPA of 85 in order to be considered. SHF members are the leaders of the French Club and need to be good role models.
