French 202
Cuesta College
Cuesta College
Hello....I'm Professeur McIver and I will be your instructor for French 202. Welcome to the courses! I am excited to be with you as you continue your language learning journey. Learning a language can be both exciting and overwhelming, so just remember to be patient with yourself. Fluency doesn't happen overnight. The goal of this course is to continue to build on your language skills to learn to communicate on a very basic level while exploring some of the exciting aspects of French culture.
I can't wait to learn about you and to see you progress along your language learning journey......À plus!
Professor McIver
French 202 is a fully online, asynchronous language course that builds on your existing knowledge of the French language and cultures of the Francophone world. While some online courses are "self-paced," this course follows a weekly schedule with two due dates per week. This means that you will be interacting with me and with your classmates several times a week, although we will likely all be online at different times!
Assignments are due each Sunday and Thursday by 11:59 p.m.
There are no class meetings required via Zoom or on campus, but you will have frequent video partner chats with classmates.
I will hold weekly virtual office hours on Tuesdays from 8:00 - 9:00 am PST. You can use this ZOOM link to contact me during those times.
As a 5 unit course, you should plan to spend 12-15 hours per week working on this course. In the summer, this may be more.
You will be interacting with your peers and your instructor via video, audio, and group activities.

The best and fastest way to contact me is email. I will generally respond to your emails within 24 hours during weekdays only. During busy times of the semester, the response time may increase to 48 hours. On weekends, I will do my best to get back to you ASAP but I cannot guarantee an expeditious response.
The Q&A Discussion on our Canvas course page is a great place for general, course-related questions. Your peers might even answer you there!
If your question is personal in nature, please send it directly to me through the Canvas inbox or email.
