Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
demonstrate aural-oral proficiency in the course of initiating and bringing to closure face-to-face conversations with native and non-native speakers using idiomatic French in the present, simple future and past tenses (Interpersonal Communication-Listening/Speaking).
demonstrate reading and writing proficiency in the course of initiating, sustaining and bringing to closure written exchanges with native and non-native speakers, using idiomatic French in the present, simple future and past tenses, while also developing dictionary and word processing skills using a French keyboard (Interpersonal Communication-Reading/Writing).
demonstrate aural proficiency when interpreting audio/video recorded and live idiomatic French spoken by native and non-native speakers in the present, simple future and past tenses (Interpretive Listening).
demonstrate reading proficiency when interpreting authentic and non-authentic texts written in idiomatic French in the present, simple future and past tenses by native and non-native writers while also demonstrating dictionary skills (Interpretive Reading).
demonstrate writing proficiency when composing and revising written information, concepts and ideas using idiomatic French in the present, simple future and past tenses for an audience of native and non-native readers while also demonstrating dictionary and word processing skills using a French keyboard and while working in a timed setting (Presentational Communication-Writing).
describe and discuss in English or French the relationship of selected products and practices to the values and attitudes found in French -speaking cultures while demonstrating expanded awareness of the relationship between language and culture (Culture).
