Our season goes from May through October. Riding is open to boys and girls going into 7th-12th grades. There are no tryouts. Everyone rides. Every race.
Races are all-day events and definitely the highlight of the season. We have a designated area in the "pit zone" (where all team tents are set up). We gather as a team and share lunch, cheer each other on throughout the course, and then celebrate together at podiums which are held after the last race of the day.
Team members are encouraged to regularly attend practices, which are held on Monday, Thursday, and every other Saturday. Riders should bring their bike, helmet, food, water, bike light, spare tube, patch kit, air source, tire lever, multi-tool, quick link, photo ID and cell phone to every practice. Junior Devo riders (7th-8th grade) participate in 3 races. They are held on the same course as High School riders but races are shorter. High School riders (9th-12th grade) participate in 4 races and have the opportunity to qualify for the state race. Team members are encouraged to be supportive to all and to be a positive advocate for the team at home, in school, in public, and on the trails. They are also expected to attend trail work nights and provide at least 2 service hours maintaining the trails that have given so much to us.
Parents are expected to get their riders to practices and to the races. We greatly appreciate parents who are involved on a committee with the team and help in various capacities on race day. Each parent is also encouraged to volunteer with the league on race day at least once during the season. There is much to be done and many hands make light work.
None of this can happen without our coaches. They attend practices, ride with their groups, cheer them on at races, and stand behind everything that is good in our team.
