Choirs at Freeman HS

Chamber

This choir contains Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses that have experience singing in choir, have strong sight-reading skills, highly developed personal skills and are seeking to advance in vocal music at an accelerated pace.

This choir *requires*an audition. Students can only participate in grade 10-12 and must also be concurrently enrolled in Chorale.

Chorale

Chorale is a Mixed Voice Choir that will perform in a traditional choral style. Students selected for this group will contain the most accurate sight readers. These students will also be prepared for the level of commitment required for the top, varsity choir. They will also sing at various festivals and community events.

This class *requires* an audition.

Advanced Treble Choir

This class will contain sopranos and altos that have experience singing in choir, have strong sight-reading skills, highly developed personal skills and are seeking to advance in vocal music at an accelerated pace.

This class *requires* an audition.

Concert Treble Choir

This class contains sopranos & altos that have experience singing in choir, are making progress in sight reading, and are building strong foundations in vocal music. This class is also open to any new singers.

This class *does not require* an audition.

Concert Tenor Bass Choir

This class contains tenors & basses that have experience singing in choir, are making progress in sight reading, & are building strong foundations in vocal music. This class is also open to any new singers.

This class *does not require* an audition.

Rubrics for determining ensemble

placement for 2025-2026 will be based on:

Eligibility in all classes
Attendance at all required rehearsals and performances
Positive attitude
Application of basic theory and sight-reading skills
Quality of vocal production
Following all school rules
