At the FIRST® Robotics Competition's Buckeye Regional, over 1,500+ high school students and up to 60 of their industrial-sized robots (plus hundreds of volunteers and mentors) will convene to measure the effectiveness of their innovations & test the power of collaboration.
It's a high-energy, high-tech sporting event where teams of students and industry professionals work together to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. The program is life-changing, career-molding, and a lot of fun!
Spectators Welcome!
Be sure to catch all the excitement of this intense competition showcasing robots developed and operated by teams of high school students from across a seven-state region. Spectators can Tour the Pits to meet the teams and get a closer look at their robots! Later, they have an excellent view of the competition field as they cheer on their favorite teams from the comfortable seating throughout the arena!
Admission is free and open to the public. Click HERE to see the public agenda.
About the FRC
The FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international engineering design challenge that combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of science and technology. Working under strict rules, with limited resources, and time limits, high school teams of up to 30 students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform a set of prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. The Challenge (Game) changes each year and teams of young people (and their mentors) have just six-weeks to solve the problem, using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules... It’s as close to “real world” engineering as a student can get, and the perfect training ground for life’s real-world challenges.
The Buckeye Regional is just one of nearly 200 FIRST® competitions occurring throughout the United States and around the world during the 2026 season. The top performing teams at each event will qualify to attend the FIRST® Championship in Houston, Texas, where they will compete for the title of "World Champion" at the end of April.

ABOUT THE GAME
In REEFSCAPESM presented by Haas, two competing alliances are invited to score coral, harvest algae, and attach to the barge before time runs out. Alliances earn additional rewards for meeting specific scoring thresholds and for cooperating with their opponents.
During the first 15 seconds of the match, robots are autonomous. Without guidance from their drivers, robots leave their starting zone, score coral on the reef, harvest algae from the reef, and collect and score additional coral.
During the remaining 2 minutes and 15 seconds, drivers control their robots. Robots collect coral from human players at their coral stations and score them on the reef. To unlock all scoring locations on the reef, robots must dislodge algae from the reef and either score it in the barge or deliver it to the human player through the processor.
A human player can then deliver the algae to the barge. If at least two algae are scored in the processor by each alliance, both alliances earn a Coopertition Point (which influences their rank in the tournament) and lowers the requirements for a ranking point.
As time runs out, robots prepare to return to the surface with their algae by grabbing onto their cages and parking under the barge.
The alliance that earns the most points wins the match!
