Education Philosophy Statement:

Each classroom has its own unique characteristics. I believe, as the classroom teacher, that these characteristics must be built upon, not removed. Basic needs must be taken care of. This means students must have snacks, feel safe, and have a sense of belonging. When basic necessities are met, learning can be achieved. Though hands on methods as well as collaborative projects, students can realize their full potential.

  • My school in on the Flathead Indian Reservation. We are a Title 1 school with 100% of our students receiving free lunch. Over 53% of students are Native American, and the other 47% is comprised of Caucasian, Black, and Hispanic students.

  • Students reading four times per week, at home is the the homework expectation for first grade. Only about 25% of students read four times per week.
