Title: Elements
Details: Self on piano
Artist Statement: The small acts of kindness I recently witnessed inspired this composition. Neighbors helping neighbors and medical personnel becoming society’s heroes. Kindness is elemental — an essential building block of humanity. The warmth of one individual’s benevolence is transcendent; a contagion occurs and kind-spiritedness is propagated. As it spreads, positive world changes occur, reminding us of our purpose. I introduce despair through minor chord arpeggios then major chord arpeggios are assembled, reflecting kindness’ saving grace. One can hear the crescendo towards ultimate humanitarianism. This is my hope for humankind. Is it really a coincidence that humankind ends with the word “kind”?
