Dance 4 (a.k.a. DANCE COMPANY) is a college-preparatory, performance-based class for experienced dancers. This class engages the student in advanced choreographic experiences and performance. The students participate in State and National dance festivals, community performances, and formal and informal concerts. Additional opportunities include Lettering and National Honor Society for Dance Arts. (Entry is by audition only)

1. All HDC members must enroll in the Dance 4 course. Counselors will make necessary adjustments to the student's class schedule following the audition.
2. The styles of dance most learned and performed in HDC are Contemporary, Jazz, and Hip Hop.
3. It is very possible to participate in private studio classes/competitions while also participating in the HDC. Communication and time-management will be most important.
4. Extended rehearsals are on Mondays/Wednesdays until 4:00 PM. Special rehearsals will be communicated in advance.
5. HDC begins in mid-August learning Pep Rally and Festival choreography. Attendance is required for all members, and the dates are published at the June meeting.
6. There are participation fees associated with HDC. The fee covers a small portion of choreography and travel expenses. Installment payments are made from August-February.
7. Most costumes are provided by the dance department. HDC will be expected to purchase an embroidered uniform jacket and Pep Rally outfit, which they will keep. Uniform jackets will not need replacing each year.
8. The class dress code consists of form-fitting clothing in black: Leotard or T-shirt (not cropped), leggings/joggers/studio pants (not baggy), uniform jacket or similar layer for warmth (no hoodies).
9. Guest choreographers and instructors are brought in throughout the year, but we prioritize providing HDC members the opportunity to choreograph after completing at least 2 semesters of HDC.
