Fluency refers to one's ability to express oneself easily and articulately.
There are three main areas of fluency:
Accuracy - determined by the number of words read correctly divided by the number of words read, multiplied by 100.
Speed - the pace at which words are read
Expression - how one makes their thoughts and feelings known [through speech]
Other components of fluency include:
Substitutions
Omissions
Insertions
Repetition
Self-corrections
(Kuder, 2018).
Fluency can be practiced by reading aloud, repeating readings, and practicing site words.
