We are also growing Sailing FYI and developing Harbor FYI to create more ways for people and families to find support, connection, stability, and hope.

We meet immediate needs while building relationships that help people connect with resources, services, organizations, and opportunities that can help them move forward.
Our approach is simple: show up, listen, serve, connect, and keep showing up.
We believe lasting change begins when people know they are seen, heard, valued, and not forgotten.

A major part of Foundations FYI is helping people figure out what comes next.
Someone experiencing homelessness may need housing assistance, but before they can apply they may need identification.
Another person may need transportation to an appointment.
Someone else may need food today but also needs help connecting with recovery services, employment, medical care, veteran resources, benefits, shelter, or family support.
Simply giving someone a phone number or a website is not always enough.
Our goal is to help people understand the available options and connect them with organizations and services that fit their actual situation.
Resource navigation may include helping people locate or connect with:
Housing and shelter resources
Food assistance
Hygiene and clothing resources
Recovery and addiction services
Mental-health resources
Medical services
Transportation
Employment opportunities
Identification and documentation assistance
Veterans services
Family support
Churches and faith-based resources
Local nonprofits
Government and community programs
We do not want to duplicate services that good organizations are already providing.
We want to help people reach them.
Foundations FYI can serve as a bridge between immediate needs and the organizations capable of helping with longer-term solutions.

Technology for Community Connection and Safety
Foundations FYI is exploring and developing technology to help people find resources, connect with support, and improve safety in situations where traditional systems may fall short. Our technology work is shaped by what we learn directly through outreach, conversations with service providers, and the real challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness, crisis, instability, and domestic violence.
Harbor FYI is being developed as a community resource and connection platform designed to make local help easier to find and easier to provide. The goal is a simple, map-based system connecting people who need help with people and organizations who can provide it.
Foundations FYI is also exploring early-stage safety and presence concepts that may help vulnerable individuals, including domestic violence survivors, feel more supported and less alone. What We’re Doing Now
What We’re Doing Now
Foundations FYI is already serving people experiencing homelessness throughout the Flathead Valley.
Each week, we gather at Depot Park to provide meals, food, hygiene supplies, practical necessities, and conversation to people who stop by.
But our outreach does not end when the gathering is over.
When food and supplies remain, we take them directly to people living in homeless camps.
That sometimes means leaving the road, walking trails, and hiking into camps to reach people who may rarely interact with traditional services.
We don't simply drop off supplies and leave.
We sit down. We eat together. We talk. We listen. We learn names. We hear stories.
Those relationships help us better understand what people are facing and what kind of assistance might actually make a difference.

Direct outreach to homeless camps
Resource navigation
Listening and relationship-building
Connecting people with community services
Working with businesses, churches, nonprofits, shelters, and volunteers

Our largest planned outreach expansion is the Foundations FYI Mobile Care Center.
Today, we carry food, hygiene supplies, and resources directly to people.
Our goal is to eventually bring significantly more services directly into the places where people are already living and gathering.
The Mobile Care Center is envisioned as a mobile resource capable of providing services such as:
Showers
Laundry
Meals
Drinking water
Hygiene supplies
Clothing and basic necessities
Device charging and basic technology access
Resource navigation
Connections with local organizations
A welcoming place to sit, talk, and determine next steps
Instead of requiring someone experiencing homelessness to travel from organization to organization across the valley, we want to bring essential care and connections closer to them.
The Mobile Care Center will grow from the same philosophy guiding our outreach today:

Sailing FYI provides another kind of outreach.
Through time on Flathead Lake, Sailing FYI gives individuals and families experiencing hardship, grief, recovery, instability, or difficult seasons an opportunity to step away from those pressures and spend meaningful time together.
Not every need can be solved with paperwork or supplies.
Sometimes people need connection.
Sometimes families need time together.
Sometimes someone simply needs a day where life feels different.
Sailing FYI is part of our belief that restoring dignity also means creating moments of hope, belonging, and joy.

Foundations FYI cannot accomplish this mission alone, and we do not want to.

Our community already has tremendous compassion, knowledge, resources, and generosity.
One of our goals is to help connect those resources with the places where they can make the greatest difference.
A restaurant may have food.
A church may have volunteers.
A business may have equipment.
A professional may have expertise.
A community member may have a few hours to give.

Our Vision for Mobile Care
Foundations FYI is working toward a Mobile Care Center that will bring essential services directly to people experiencing homelessness and hardship throughout the Flathead Valley.
The goal is to provide mobile access to showers, laundry, meals, hygiene supplies, basic necessities, resource navigation, technology access, and compassionate one-on-one support.
This illustration represents where we are headed. Today, we are already serving people through weekly outreach at Depot Park and by taking food and supplies directly into homeless camps. The Mobile Care Center will allow us to build on that work and reach people with even more practical care, dignity, and connection.
