The Research Organization of the SCP Foundation is tasked with the scientific study, documentation, and analysis of anomalous entities, objects, and phenomena encountered and contained by the Foundation. Its primary objective is to deepen the Foundation’s understanding of these anomalies in order to support effective containment, prevent potential breaches, and ensure the safety of both personnel and the general public.
Research personnel work diligently to uncover the nature, origin, and mechanics of anomalies using cross-disciplinary scientific methods, often collaborating with other departments such as Security, Medical, Tactical Response, and Containment Engineering. Through testing and experimentation, researchers provide critical insights that enable the development and refinement of containment protocols, threat assessments, and ethical considerations regarding the use and study of anomalous materials.
The Research Organization serves as the intellectual backbone of the Foundation, playing a vital role in fulfilling its overarching mission: Secure, Contain, Protect. It is the responsibility of Research staff to ensure anomalies are not only contained, but also understood—transforming the unknown into structured, actionable knowledge for the preservation of normalcy.
