Words Their Way (WTW)

Course Overview

Words Their Way (WTW) is a developmental approach to phonics, vocabulary, and spelling instruction. Students are grouped according to their word study stage and move through weekly word sorts, games, and writing activities designed to improve their understanding of word patterns and spelling conventions.

Course Goals

Students will:

• Recognize and apply common spelling patterns

• Improve decoding and encoding skills

• Develop vocabulary knowledge and word awareness

• Apply spelling knowledge to reading and writing

• Use word study strategies to spell unfamiliar words
