The Great Hall stands at the back of the Fort and is the largest structure within the Fort itself.
The steps to the front door are made of polished driftwood and flanking each side of the steps are statues of sea nymphs carved from ivory. One is rescuing a drowning sailor. The other is playing music on a lyre made of fish bones.
The doors of the Great Hall are carved with an underwater scene. At the top the crashing waves and a large sailing ship at sea. At the bottom the ocean floor with ship wrecks. In between are many creatures that make up ocean life from schools of fish and sharks to mermaids and sea serpents.
At the edges of the door are curling kraken tentacles reaching up from the ocean depths. Much like the drawbridge even though the doors are large and heavy looking they open easily with a single push.
Inside the Great Hall is a vestibule where visitors can gather and admire art of underwater scenes and a self-playing harp that does take requests. If you ask the harp to play a song that has lyrics, however, you are expected to perform with it or else it will not play. Snub the self-playing harp too many times and it will refuse to play for you.
To the left and right of the vestibule are two spiral staircases that go up to the second level of the Great Hall which has access to the wall walk. The second level inside is merely a balcony that runs along the sides of the Great Hall. Visitors can look down at the main dining area to observe Avengers meetings or grand feasts.
The vestibule and Great Hall are separated by walls but there are no doors to close off the Great Hall. There is only a central doorway that leads inside marked out by a runner carpet the color of kelp which may occasionally look like it is swaying to the rolling rhythm of waves. This carpet runs all the way through the Great Hall. Flanking the carpet are long driftwood tables decorated with coral candle holders and pewter silverware with a nautical theme. Giant whale bone and coral chandeliers hang from the ceiling. The candles, luckily, are self-lighting but instead of looking like flickering flames they behave like sunlight coming through water.
At the back of the Great Hall is a raised dais. The dais is meant for speakers to address the whole of the Great Hall and any guests inside. Magic allows anyone speaking to be heard from any corner of the Great Hall.
There are four grand windows that line the walls of the Great Hall, two on each side. Each window depicts a different part of the battle with the hydra. The first the hydra's attack, the second the Adopteds attempt to protect the castle, the third the Queen's heroic killing blow with her trident on the battle manatee, and the last the Queen in peaceful rest on the ocean with flowers all around her. The back wall of the Great Hall has a large stained glass window that is a portrait of the Summer Queen with the words "Our Fairest Summer Queen. May the Ocean Waves Carry Her Light" underneath it in gold script. Skylights on the roof left in a great deal of natural sunlight in during the day. No matter the weather outside the temperature inside the Great Hall is that of a perfect summer day.
Entering the Kitchens one will find themselves in the galley of a ship. The stone walls change to wood and even though there is plenty of space a strange feeling of tightness remains.
The Kitchens, unlike the ones in the main castle, will not cook for you. Anyone looking to cook has to light the heart and ovens themselves.
Luckily, it has all the pots, pans, and knives and other tools one might need to cook a full meal for themselves or a huge group of people. There's even a spit-jack to roast meat over the cooking hearth but one will have to do the hard work all by themselves or with the help of friends.
Dishes can be cleaned in the sink which is operated by a pump and only pumps salt water.
In the back right corner of the kitchen is a rope ladder that does down into the cellar. Whomever designed it did not think of the difficulties of carrying things up this ladder to the kitchens. They only thought about the theme of the space as a whole.
Here there are barrels for storing goods and shelves ready and waiting for food stuff to be delivered. These shelves do not stock themselves and random objects from home will never randomly appear here.
Perhaps ominously there are giant hooks hanging in one corner meant for large cuts of meat.
Oddly, even when empty it has a distinctly fishy smell. Luckily, it is of fresh fish and not old fish but trying to find the source is impossible. Sometimes one can hear the sound of waves breaking against the walls of the cellar.
The Infirmary is not a proper clinic like the one in town. It is meant to triage and stabilize the injured to be brought to the clinic proper or to give anyone with a minor illness somewhere to go instead of staying in the barracks and infecting anyone else.
It is two stories with sick beds down in the lower level while the second level is reserved for the doctors to monitor their patients or bring in the injured from the wall walk. At the moment it is not well stocked with medical supplies. There are hooks along the doctor's area meant for the drying of herbs.
Each bed is large enough to fit a full grown man and the headboard is a lovely scallop shell shape. Surrounding each bed is a foot wide ring of sand meant to absorb any escaping bodily fluids. The rest of the infirmary is smooth polished white stone that can easily be cleaned with water and vigorous scrubbing.
Even though such a place should echo horribly sound doesn't carry easily within the walls of the Infirmary. Even someone screaming at the top of their lungs would sound muffled. This is meant to be a place of rest and recovery.
The Barracks share a tower with the Bathhouse. They take up the second story of the tower.
There are a limited number of beds and the accommodations are not as comfortable as the rooms of the castle. It has simple beds made of driftwood that line the edges of the room. In the center are two large tables meant for soldiers to gather for conversation and games of chance. They've even provided dice made of whale bone for those games.
Between each bed is a shelf that can be shared between soldiers for their small keepsakes and personal belongings. If a person wants more privacy they should get their own trunk to place at the foot of the bed.
The Bathhouse is especially lovingly crafted.
Richly decorated in mosaics of a coral reef there is one large communal bathing pool that is always the perfect temperature and constantly cycles water so that is always crystal clear.
For those who wish a little more privacy there are three smaller private bathing chambers. These also always have the perfect temperature and cycling water along with a collection of bath bombs and bathing salts for people to enjoy.
Soft music is always playing in the Bathhouse from unseen musical instruments. Bathers can make requests but nothing too loud! The music will always be peaceful and encourage relaxation.
The largest and only round tower in the Fort the Wizard's Tower is positioned in the back and has multiple levels with in it with a central spiral staircase that leads to the highest level within the pointed roof that allows for stargazing so anyone of the magical persuasion can easily read signs and portents in the stars.
The first level is the largest with incredibly tall bookcases that are currently empty of books. The expectation is the wizards will write their own books to stock the shelves with. There are a few display cases for any magical artifacts wizards might get in the future.
Hanging lamps made of sea glass and coral hang from the undersides of the spiral stairs and much like the Great Hall flicker like sunlight under the water instead of normal lights.
The floors above also have some bookcases but are designed to be more private study spaces for wizards with special projects. There are a few alchemy labs between the floors as well as work tables for the preparation of ingredients. No alchemy tools or ingredients have been provided either.
The wizards get a very lovely tower that they have to start from scratch with. Perhaps the Summer Queen knows a certain Sorcerer was mean to her favorite Spider once.
