With the goal of preserving the look and feel of the neighborhood, a 2-year process was conducted to install requirements in the LO Plan (here) lots in areas R5/10 to R15 to be at least 15,000 sq. ft. for development.
State-wide legislation HB2001 expands the ability of property owners to build certain traditional housing types, like duplexes, in residential zones. The FHNA board worked with LO City leaders on interpreting the legislation.
The FHNA BoD worked with several developers, including those leading the 2015 Street of Dreams, and the City to reduce numbers of lots, increase setbacks, improve stormwater management, and review/endorse development plans.
The path connecting Hazel/Goodall Road through to Leslie Lane was advocated by the FHNA as it connects a very safe and vastly more efficient walking path from the heart of FHNA to LOHS and LOJ.
FHNA advocated on behalf of LOSD to acquire a property adjacent to LOHS. Now, instead of significant tree removal followed by installation of a group of condominiums as originally planned, a green house is being constructed with outdoor student classrooms and the district will use the land for other projects.
