Honors English Language Arts 9-12 is an a-g high school literature course for grades 9-12.
Honors English Language Arts 9-12 is a highly interactive world literature course, engaging the students in a selection of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories and poems; William Shakespeare's Hamlet; George Orwell’s Animal Farm; and Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief. Concurrently, students will be independently reading A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens and Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury and keeping Reader Response Journals for these texts. Each unit involves reading aloud, discussing, performing, comprehending, analyzing, evaluating, and writing about the text. During the course of the year, there will be research and written assignments in accordance with the Common Core Standards. Each writing assignment will also include a focus on language conventions.
