English Language Arts 5-6

English Language Arts 5-6 is a highly interactive course, engaging the students in reading, discussing, performing, comprehending, analyzing, evaluating, and writing about the text. For the Fall 2025 semester, students will be reading Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry and Friedrich, by Hans Peter Richter. During the Spring 2026 semester, students will read A Long Way from Chicago and its sequel A Year Down Yonder, by Richard Peck. Over the course of the year there will be opportunities to write narrative, informative, and opinion/argument essays, as well as a research paper. Each writing assignment will include a focus on language conventions. 

Cost: $325 per semester

Time: Mondays 10:00-12:15 pm
