Cotillion

Cotillion Course Description 

In cotillion we teach students to dance a variety of basic ballroom dances, including the waltz, foxtrot, swing, and more. We practice good manners and teach etiquette lessons in an enjoyable and structured environment. Each class has a different theme. Please dress in formal attire unless otherwise stated. 

Class Levels:

Beginner: Grades 3-8

Intermediate: High School and College 

Schedule:

5:00-6:00 PM: Beginner dance lesson

6:00-6:30 PM: Refreshments and etiquette lesson for all class levels

6:30-7:30: Intermediate dance lesson

7:30-8:00 PM: Open dance time for all class levels

8:00-8:15 PM: Clean-up and departure

2026-2027 Calendar: 

October 23: Halloween Dance | Wear Halloween costume | Review of basic waltz and swing and learn a group dance 

November 20: Parent Night | Wear formal attire | Learn mother-son and father-daughter dances | Parent attendance STRONGLY encouraged  

February 5: Sweetheart Dance | Wear red, pink, or hearts | Learn the Lindy with Timothy Pinkham 

March 5: Sherlock/Enola Holmes Waltz | Wear British, Victorian or detective attire | Learn the waltz and quadrille 

April 16: Prom Prep Night | Wear formal attire | Learn to partner dance to modern music  

May 7: Back to the '80s Dance| Wear '80s attire | Learn dances from the ancient past AKA the 1980s

Formal Attire:

Ladies: Party dress or skirt or dress pants with blouse and flat dress shoes that are easy to dance in. Gloves are optional.

Gentlemen: Nice pants, collared shirt, and hard-soled shoes. Coat and tie are optional, but encouraged. 

Cost:

Each family volunteers to provide refreshments for at least one event, including: finger foods, beverages, and paper goods. Non-paying families may be asked to volunteer for more than one event if needed. Alternatively, the cost is $10 per student/per class or $50 per student for the whole year.
