Band Announcements

Ford Band Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back and thank you for supporting your child in music this year! It is not even Labor Day yet, but the Ford Intermediate and Advanced Bands have already started making their first sounds of the year! If you child has their own instrument, they should be planning to bring it to school daily after Labor Day.

Please make sure all student-owned instruments cases are labeled with your child's name. This can be done a label, a luggage tag, or just tape and a Sharpie marker. Since many students have similar looking instrument cases, this prevents any mix-ups and helps students locate their instruments quickly if they are misplaced in a classroom.

Please take a look at the FORD PARENT INFORMATION flyer that was given to your student on the second day of school. This contains important information about how to get a hold of me, the dates of all of our evening concerts, and information about Ford Music shirts (if one is needed for your child)

Parents and Guardians of Ford Beginning Band students,

My name is Daniel Kexel and I am excited to welcome your child to Ford Middle School for the rest of the 2024-2025 school year! I am so excited that they have chosen to learn a musical instrument in band, and I will do my best to help them succeed, both musically and personally.

GETTING AN INSTRUMENT FOR BAND: The first goal for every child is to get an instrument in their hands so we can start their musical journey. We will be talking about the different instruments that students can play in band next week and the different ways you can get one.

Please look at the brochure called “GETTING A BAND INSTRUMENT FOR YOUR CHILD” for the three ways your child can get a band instrument. You can also go to the Getting an Instrument page on this website.

OUR BAND BOOK: Students will also be asked to purchase a copy of our band book, titled “ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS FOR BAND, BOOK 1” for the instrument they choose to play in band. Band books are available at local music stores or at many online stores. You can go to the Your Band Book section of the band website for a description and links to purchase them from Amazon.

There are resources available for students to get all of their materials for band (Instrument, band book, drumsticks, etc.) for little or no cost. Please contact me if you wish to know more about assistance for families.
