Level 3

Co-design of the study

Shape the design of the study finalising the study's acquisition protocols

What is this about?

We will invite some Citizen Scientists (CS) for a quick online meeting on the 13th of June with the research team using MS Teams.

Two meeting sessions will run on that day:

  • The morning session, which is the main one, will run between 11.00-12.00

  • An additional afternoon session will run between 18.00-19.00

In this meeting, we will discuss our sampling protocol concerning the key part of the study, which is the preparation for testing of the food delivered to you for allergens. With their input, this subgroup of CS will have the chance to influence the design of the project’s protocols.

Who will be there?

Tassos, Theano, Hazel, and Michael (the research team) and about 5-10 members of the public who are part of the 285 citizen scientists cohort in this research project.

What will be discussed?

We have laid some groundwork on the sampling protocol that we think should be followed by the CS to ensure that the results that will be produced are reliable and the CS learn and have fun in the process. But we need your input to make sure it is easy to follow, safe and it makes sense for the average CS no matter where they are in the journey with food hypersensitivities. We are very open to amending the protocol, hearing suggestions for other possible approaches, and triming it so that it is fit for purpose.

So, we have in mind to discuss

· the sample handling protocol and if it makes sense for the average CS

· the ordering process and the sample dispatch

· the next steps of the project with a focus on the dissemination of the results

Anything else that needs to be discussed around the project, we are more than welcome to hear it!

Will I get invited?

If you already have the CS status and you have completed any of the first few surveys (Level 1 and Level 2 contributions), we will invite you via email based on the type of hypersensitivity you have and your geographic location. This is because we would like to have as best representation as possible.
