SERVER RULES

1. Basic server etiquette is expected here. Don’t be purposefully offensive, respect people’s boundaries, be kind, take issues with other users to DMs and make a mod aware if needed, no spamming, no venting. Please keep criticism of other wcrp groups and staff decisions made within this server to a minimum unless there is a serious concern.

2. Even though this is an 18+ space, there will be no sexual NSFW content allowed here. Crude humor is ok in general chats, but you cannot make sexual references to the characters in the rp.

3. Please try to keep real life politics at bay in this server unless it is dire, possibly relevant to the worldbuild, or a resource being shared. I expect everyone here to have mature discussions about these things, however I’d like this space to be as comfortable and stress-free as possible. 

4. If there is a discussion being had, a plot, or a topic that makes you uncomfortable, please let a mod or rp partner know. If it is a multiple person discussion and you aren’t comfortable directly telling multiple people to drop it, you can use the 🚫 emoji to signal a change of subject, no questions asked. However, please be mindful of your own discomforts and triggers and use the signal with reason. 

5. Continuing from the previous rule, please spoiler and use a content warning for graphic material in your work. Violence and death will most likely be present in the rp. Mature subjects in personal work are allowed under the same expectations. 

6. I understand that a lot of us don’t know each other personally, but please try to assume the best intentions of others and not jump into arguments immediately. Never be afraid to ask someone for clarification, don’t be hostile when someone makes a mistake. We are all capable of misunderstanding and it shouldn’t be a damning factor in this server.

7. Please avoid posting over others in art channels! You don't have to reply to everything sent there, just be courteous and check when something was uploaded. Even an emoji reaction helps!

8. Take things at your own pace! You are not expected to be active every hour of every day. Just let a mod know if you are to take an extensive hiatus.

ROLEPLAY RULES

1. There are no word limits for responses in this server. As long as you give your partner(s) something to build off of, any length is allowed. Preferences for length can be made individually, however. 

2. Sensitive topics banned from rp are as follows: sexual assault, incest, pedophilia, general sexual content, beastiality, self harm, graphic depictions of drug or alcohol use, graphic depictions of suicide, genocide. Violence, death, and gore are allowed as this is xenofiction fantasy, just be mindful and use spoilers and content warnings.

3. No godmodding, don’t make decisions for characters you don’t own. Leave turn-based events like fighting as open as possible or discuss an outcome with your rp partner(s) beforehand. 

4. Do not discriminate against other characters based on origin, sexuality, gender, or disability. 

5. Actions and opinions in the roleplay are not equal to actions and opinions in real life. Decisions your characters make don’t have to be perfect, but there will be consequences within the world if laws are broken and they are caught breaking them.  

6. There will be monthly rollovers for this server, however, most of the roleplay will be in liquid time. You can be in multiple threads at once with the same character. Roleplaying flashbacks is allowed, just make your intentions clear when logging the thread so it doesn’t mess up the timeline. 

7. Let people know if you can’t continue a thread for any reason! You are encouraged to discuss an ending with your roleplay partner either way, but your mental health and life outside discord matters more.

CHARACTER CREATION RULES

1. You are allowed 2 character slots per clowder as a starting point. There will be separate openings for new slots held every now and then within the server.

2. Your first character must be at least 10 moons old.

3. Cats must be at least 16 moons old to have serious romantic connections. Please avoid considerable age gaps; no mentor/apprentice or warrior/apprentice romance. Apprentice crushes and apprentices dating each other is ok, as long as kits are not involved. 

4. Kitten (1-6 moons old) slots are limited, orphaned kittens even more so. It is greatly preferred if you as a player find other played characters for caregivers and littermates before making a solo kitten.

5. Your character’s background can be anything within reason, however, there is a strong preference for a clowder-born character as your first slot. Backgrounds with The Collective/The WaveWhirls are more lenient. The JaggedCrags should have little to no pet background.

6. Backgrounds can be vague– you do not need to have every single detail developed upon submission. Inclusion of clowder culture or recent history is highly encouraged.

7. Try to avoid tragic or “evil” characters simply for the sake of doing so. Give your cat nuance! Give them aspirations! Motives!

8. Banned topics from backstories: SA, incest, pedophilia, cults, detailed descriptions of abuse. Please content warn and spoiler for character death, especially familial or kitten-related.

9. Domestic cats only. No exotics, no bobcats.

10. Purebred cats need to be from a pet background in some shape or form. Parents can be said background. 

11. Mutations ok– polydactyly is pretty common for strays and shipcats!

12. Disabilities of any kind are ok– please be respectful and do your research if you do not have said disability. You will be asked to change details if anything about the portrayal is found to be disrespectful, even if it is unintentional. 

13. Realistic colors preferred. Stylized tints of color are fine! For example, a cat can be drawn/described as having “purplish-black” fur. Coat patterns do not need to be 100% realistic. Your character can have a “hairstyle” as well.

14. Accessories are fine, as long as they are within reason and not culturally appropriative. No feather decorations, no headdresses, no skull masks, no body paint.

15. The name of your character must make sense within the context of the clowder you chose. Please refer to each respective naming style and their climate for inspiration! If you want to do something beyond the guidelines that are provided, please discuss with the admin and give a contextual reason why.
