This is what your funding is actively going towards, and what our events are raising money for.
The OPAL programme is a mentor-supported school improvement programme that helps schools transform how playtimes are planned, resourced, staffed and managed, creating richer, more creative and inclusive play opportunities that improve children’s wellbeing, behaviour and skills. provide training for teachers, and come into school to help give ideas to support playtime. FoDHS are part-funding the initial 2-year set up costs with the school.

An annual initiative we aim to support is the transport to and from the all-school pantomime trip. FoDHS are usually able to fund the transport from the proceeds of the Christmas Bonanza.

A opportunity to attend a discounted, fun-filled, live orchestral show of Wallace & Gromit 'The Wrong Trousers' at the Wiltshire Music Centre in April 2026.
On national science day in March 2026 FoDHS helped bring Derry Hill school an emersive space experience. The children got to experience a captivating and unforgettable show by stepping into a WonderDome mobile planetarium where they were transported on a cosmic journey exploring the wonders of the Universe to kickstart their lifelong love of space and science with WonderDome.
From planet formation to the birth and death of stars, from launching rockets to stepping foot on other worlds, it was an unforgettable opportunity to bring the marvels of space right into the school.
FoDHS were able to fully fund the transport coaches to and from the annual pantomime trip to see a spellbinding performance of Sleeping Beauty at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon in December 2025.
