The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 6 and BFAR-USAID Fish Right (FR) Program launched the Blue Swimming Crab communications campaign in the Visayan Sea/Fisheries Management Area (FMA) 11 in four pilot sites: Ajuy and Concepcion in Iloilo and EB Magalona and Manapla in Negros Occidental.
The launching unveiled the products of almost a year-long planning and collaboration which will be used in the pilot sites. These materials include a set of print materials, radio plugs, 30-seconder videos, and the two mascots โ ๐๐ข๐ฑ๐ช๐ต๐ข๐ฏ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ฑ๐ช๐ต๐ข๐ฏ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ด๐ข๐จ.
โPart of the implementation of our BSC National Management Plan is a communication plan so that stakeholders including kasag fishers, consumers, traders, processors, pickers, and exporters are made aware of the status of the BSC fisheries and that they can do their part in helping make sure that the next generation has more "๐๐ข๐ด๐ข๐จ ๐ฑ๐ข๐ณ๐ข ๐ด๐ข ๐ช๐ญ๐ข ๐ฃ๐ถ๐ข๐ด-๐ฅ๐ข๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ.โ, said BFAR 6 Regional Director Remia Aparri in her message.
The activity was graced by Hon. Raul Banias of Concepcion, Hon. Jett Rojas of Ajuy, Prof. Nygiel Armada, Chief of Party of the USAID Fish Right Program, representatives from Manapla, EB Magalona, Thai Union, Sarabia Blue Crab Inc., Philippine Association of Crab Processors Inc., FR Consortium, Provincial Fishery Offices of Iloilo and Negros Occidental, and the National Stock Assessment Program of Region 6.
