2021 Innovation Project: Cargo is more than importing consumer products or speedy delivery to a customer. Cargo is a consumption loop where a customer purchases an item, item is shipped, and eventually purchased items are discarded as waste - reentering the cargo loop. Team MC² has developed and prototyped a solution to the waste side of the cargo supply chain: The Bubba Shredder, a plastic bottle to 3D filament creator. The Bubba Shredder allows consumers to safely recycle plastic waste by creating 3D filament that can be used at home with 3D printers, by businesses for prototyping, and schools for education. Additionally, consumers who are creating recycled products at home, will disrupt the consumer supply chain by reducing the continued cargo chain with a new purchase.
