2. What is the use of Expansion Joints and bellows?
Expansion Joint and bellows are used in the piping system .They are made up of accessories like flow liners, covers and tie rods the metal bellows acts like a springs but they are restricted to contain the pressure of fluid that flows through the expansion joint. A proper flow depends much on the movements of the connected piping system
If the Expansion Joints are removed from the piping systems, there would be high stresses that would be created by the thermal expansion joint. This can cause huge pressure resulting the cracks of the welds and bending of the pipes.
The corrugations are planned in such way that they can tolerate the huge pressure of the entire system. The assembly of the bellows is placed in a such way that it can flux under the thermal movement of the connected piping system

1. Common Expansion Joint:
The most common Expansion Joints are made by the expansion bellows and manufacturers are single expansion joints that are required for undergoing a small amount of lateral and angular movements in the piping system. Double Expansion Joints that are made up of two bellows that are linked by common connector

Hinged Expansion Joints are used to absorb the angular movement when it occurs in only one plane direction. They are also called as Angular Expansion Joints or Hinged Bellows (Hinged Expansion Joint).
4. Axial Expansion Joint :
Axial Expansion Joints are the simplest type of expansion joints using a single bellows unit. The thermal expansion joint of a straight pipe line section between two fix points can be absorbed by the axial expansion joints with a relatively compact build-in length. These Axial Expansion Joints have a further advantage of not imposing a change in the direction of flow. Where small thermal movements are involved and where proper anchoring and guiding are possible, single axial bellows provide the most economical solution.
