There are fundamentally three types of artists in any flamenco performance.
Almost without fail is a singer who is usually solo. Usually accompanied by a Guitarist, though sometimes singers will sing without accompaniment. And quite frequently a dancer. Sometimes there are more, or less of these.
The majority of singers are men, though there are a number of women Flamenco singers.
The majority of, if not all, guitarists are men. There must be women Flamenco guitarists, but we have not experienced that.
The majority of dancers are women, though there are a number of male dancers. Some very good.
Women dancers are able to dress stunningly in Flamenco dresses, which gives them a huge visual advantage. Male dancers do not have same dress advantage but (usually) are able to be more athletic than the ladies.
Jerez has a group of artists that are seen quite often performing in bars and Tabancos around the town, though they travel elsewhere to perform.
And in reverse we quite often have artists visiting from Cordoba, Malaga, Seville and so on.
On this page below I list those I have videos of. In four other pages I archive those (singers, guitarists and dancers) who appear on advertising, but we have not yet seen/videoed - and the clubs and Tabancos that offer Flamenco, if only occasionally.
First or Fore-names ending in an 'a' will be lady artists (Marga) and those in an 'o' (Thiego) are men. Any other ending letter is also likely to be a man (Joaquin) - though Daily and Marisol demonstrate the fragility of such 'rules'.
