The combustion characteristics of a spray depend largely on the droplet diameter. By injecting air or gas into the liquid stream the disintegration of the liquid sheet or jet can he enhanced. Also, the combustion intensity of non-premixed flame can be enhanced by means of air injection.
The new injector is primarily conceived for high-speed flow applications. Preliminary investigations show that the injector has considerable potential for practical applications.
Droplet size distribution at 50 mm downstream from injector exit. Experiments conducted with water and air.
D32 versus axial distance from injector exit (Liquid used: water).
Diagnostic technique: Malvern particle sizer.
Trial tests with kerosene fuel; Atomizing fluid used is compressed air
