Who can nominate? Any language teacher or Administrator. Self-nominations are also accepted.
CRITERIA: The teacher nominated must:
1. be active in FLAIR.
2. be a full-time language teacher in an elementary school, middle school, secondary school, college or university in the CSRA.
3. have had at least one year of full-time teaching experience in the CSRA prior to the year of nomination.
4. be a member in good standing of at least one state, regional or national professional language organization. (FLAG, ACTFL, SCOLT, AATF, AATSP, AATG, MLA, ACL, etc.) 5. utilize good pedagogical practices in the classroom.
6. demonstrate a keen sensitivity for students’ needs and abilities as learners of a second language.
7. have evidence of continuing professional growth and development in at least one of the following ways: (a) study and/or travel in countries where the second language is the official language. (b) attendance at professional meetings. (c) participation in foreign language workshops, retreats or institutes.
Letters of recommendation
There is no “form” submit. Recommenders should cover the areas outlined in the criteria above. Email your nomination to Dr. Jana Sandarg by the deadline.
Each nominee must have at least two letters of recommendation: one or two letters from a language teacher, or a letter from a language teacher and one from an administrator.
If you are nominating yourself, you must be sure that the supporting letters of recommendation come from one or two language teachers (other than yourself), or from a language teacher and an administrator.
