With more than 3 million practitioners, fitness and physical preparation is one of the most popular sports in Spain. Since the 1980s and with wild aerobic exercises, until today the disciplines of dance and martial arts, fitness has managed to stand out. Overview of this practice.
This term covers all the physical activities that are offered in sports clubs (light training, stretching and cardiovascular training ...).
The exercise has its origin in aerobics, derived from rhythmic dances, such as modern jazz.
In the 1970s, Jane Fonda became the muse of aerobics and developed a method, "aerobic exercise."
Since then, fitness disciplines are becoming more numerous and every year it seems a new discipline.
Fitness covers a multitude of activities. This list is not exhaustive. You can find many more in all gyms:
Strengthening / GAP: The famous famous buttocks, abdominals and legs are part of the classics of the gym and are found everywhere. You can also choose the chest / arms, abdominal / waist or buttocks / thighs.
Combat: practiced in group classes, is a mixture of several fighting techniques such as boxing, karate or taekwondo. With a motivating music, alternate kicks and punches. It's active, fun and we sweat!
Body balance: like the combat, it is a mixture of different disciplines, but sweet this time. Yoga, tai-chi and pilates are part of this for complete muscle strengthening and relaxation.
Gentle gymnastics and / or maintenance: It is the perfect activity if you have not practiced sports for a long time, or if you do not want to go too fast. Practiced in a group class, this activity consists of smooth and progressive exercises, to avoid any injury
Step : This activity is practiced thanks to a small elevated platform (Step). You must move up and down the Step, following the rhythm of the music. This exercise is ideal for firming the thighs and buttocks
Aerobics: it's about making fast movements with very rhythmic music. Sweating and coordination, because it is not always easy to follow! We distinguish from low impact (LIA), softer and high impact (HIA) significantly more dynamic. If everyone can practice this activity, keep an eye on the level of your class.
Indoor Cycling: This activity is practiced in music with stationary bicycles (spinning bicycles). Based on the resistance and strengthening of the cardiovascular system, it is a recommended discipline to lose weight. But be careful, you must keep the rhythm. A discouraged therefore to beginners.
Stretching : consists of stretching and relaxation that aim to relieve muscles and joints, but also to lengthen them. It is often practiced in addition to another activity. It is a discipline of relaxation and accessible to everyone.
Acuaerobic : As the name implies, it is about doing the gym in the water. It is practiced in a pool or for the most fortunate of the sea, this activity helps the muscles of the whole body, playing with resistance to water to facilitate movement, but also makes them more effective. This gentle activity is recommended for people who are not used to sports or who are overweight. Nowadays, it comes in aqua-boxing, aqua-cycling or aqua-power.
Body pump or body sculpt: it is a complete bodybuilding training, based on the principle of a circuit training. Practiced in music, without machines but with elastics and weights, one alternates exercises by regularly changing the parts of the body worked. Dynamic, this activity allows a complete figure
Pilates: A gentle method of gymnastics based on concentration and breathing, whose goal is to rebalance the body. We work in a deep but flexible way, suddenly the muscles lengthen and develop harmoniously.
Yoga: A physical and spiritual exercise is based on different positions (asanas) with different methodologies and tendencies, based mainly on Hatha Yoga. Body and mental balance is sought, through exercise and meditation and relaxation. More yoga
CROSSFIT : Functional movements in which we work the whole body in very intense and motivating work sessions. Crossfit sessions are called WOD's (Workout of the day)
