AKG Advocacy was founded by Carley Cook in 2025 after personally facing the overwhelming challenges of getting vital medications covered by Medicare and a Medicare Advantage plan. Before becoming disabled in 2022, Carley worked as a Registered Medical Assistant in surgical offices, where she managed prior authorizations, appeals, and completed both clinical and administrative tasks. Carley’s journey into healthcare was deeply personal. After being dismissed and gaslit by doctors for over two decades, she was finally diagnosed with a genetic connective tissue disorder at age 23. That experience lit a fire — not just to advocate for herself, but to ensure others wouldn’t have to navigate the same confusing, frustrating system alone.

Her mission has always been simple: help people however she can. Whether working directly with patients or educating herself on the ins and outs of insurance, she’s committed to empowering others with the tools they need to speak up and get the care they deserve.
