The Fire Starter Festival has been designed to celebrate the various creative, innovative and courageous ways in which we are all contributing to the transformation of society. This call is for anyone who has a "spark" of an idea for hosting an event as part of the Fire Starter Festival, which runs from 28th January to 8th February 2019. This call will help you connect to your idea or ignition point for running an event and to support you to move it into a more physical and tangible form. We will also share the practical elements with you like the completion of the Host Application Form and process too, so that you can jump on board with us on this and confirm your event.

Social Gathering, based on the tradition of the ‘Rambling House’. Featuring music, song, storytelling, conversation in an informal dwelling house setting.

World Cafe - A Gathering of people of Inishowen of all ages to celebrate people and place. Inspiring Inishowen World Cafe invites visionaries, dreamers, movers and shakers, artists, musicians, mothers, fathers, children, grandparents, change-makers and more to gather for a couple of hours on Monday, February 4th at 4pm for a unique experience based on the World Cafe model. This event is a timely offering as Parental Alienation has recently been included in the ICD-11 published by the World Health Organization.
A family law solicitor will offer his perspective on family law and will answer questions by fathers affected by Parental Alienation.
The aim of this event is to raise awareness and address the knowledge gap about parental alienation, to build an understanding of the experience of children and their families affected by this issue.
A sensory adventure and exploration event in Garvagh Forest with citizens with learning disabilities. This a collaboration between Compass Advocacy Network & Garvagh People’s Forest Project. Garvagh Forest is a 600-acre broadleaf and conifer forest on the edges of Garvagh town, Co L’Derry with history to the land dating back 1000s of years.
Participants will also be invited to respond to the format of the Zoom call as a means of engaging mindfully and sharing experiences of this theme.
There is great potential with the online events for people from Scotland or indeed globally to participate in the Irish Fire Starter Festival - which would be wonderful and add a richness to this too.

This is a space for open conversation to look at what STRESS actually is, what its purpose is on the body, the effects it has on our daily lives and how it has become so accepted as part of a normal way to feel. We will look at ways to manage stress, using tools and techniques that work for me and others in the group.
Musician & singer Tom Barry will weave his wonderful music and poetry created from his life experiences, through our conversation. And I’m told there will be a cup of the best coffee in town, too!

Planting of around 200 trees which will be mainly used as a renewable fuel source for a planned eco community. Volunteers are invited to help on the day and, in the process, learn about establishing a sustainable woodland. The trees, which include hazel, birch, willow and alder, will be coppiced (cut at the base) in about 7 years’ time and will regrow.
Please note that the site is remote and quite inaccessible.
