In collaboration with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service with have started looking at the physiological strain of new recruits during their initial 2 week BA course. New recruits will not have experienced fire, had limited PPE use and are likely to be anxious about the training. Subsequently, their heat tolerance is likely to be considerably worse than a standard fire fighter or instructor. It is importnat to consider the acute cost of doing a single hot wear and the long term consequence of wearing 10 times over the 2 weeks of training
We have started pilot testing at ESFRS, but are still looking for training centres that are interested in being involved with testing. If you are please send us an email using the button here.
Likewise, to extend this work we need funding to carry out the testing and analysis. So if you are interested in supporting this work, please contact us.
