302 - RESPONDING TO EMERGENCIES

When responding to the scene of an emergency, apparatus operators are expected to follow these protocols:

• Maximum 20 mph over the speed limit and 80 mph max whilst operating all apparatus with the exception of sedans and SUVs.

• Must slow down when approaching intersections if the light is green.

• Must stop and clear the intersection if the light is red or the intersection is stop sign controlled.

• Emergency responses are all dependent on an estimate of exigent circumstances. Refer to the department roll-out sheet on the roster to ascertain response priority.
