Now let's continue with our example of last section. Suppose you are interested to know the value of your bonus package at the end of year 2022, how can you figure it out? How about the value in the year 2030, the year of your planned early-retirement?
The solution is actually pretty simple: calculate the FV given the PV (300).
The time interval between the end of 2020 and that of 2022 is 2 years; the time interval between the end of 2020 and that of 2030 is 10 years.
Of course, there are more than one way to solve this problem. For example, one can calculate the value of each cash flow at the end of 2022 and then add them up. However, the answer will always (and should) be the same. Although here I just show the "safenet" solution, if you get time, you can always try to solve the problem via different approach and have fun!
