I'm a composer, arranger, and orchestrator who loves to turn musical ideas into fully realized, performance-ready scores. My work spans writing original music for full orchestra in film scoring contexts, composing for musical theatre pit ensembles, and creating pieces for British-style brass band, alongside arranging songs for small ensembles and preparing clean, professional scores and parts.
I love the process of taking an idea, however rough or fully formed, and shaping it into something that sounds right in the room it's meant for. If you've got a project that needs music written, arranged, or prepared, I'd love to help bring it to life. Take a look around, and feel free to reach out!
Most arrangers and composers write from behind a desk. I write from the chair. (Yes, I also think this is a genius line!) I play in an orchestra, a brass band, marching band, and several smaller ensembles, and regularly perform in church and worship settings and musical theatre pits. Between trumpet and flugelhorn (my main instruments), plus regular work on trombone, cornet, piccolo trumpet, and percussion, and occasional turns on clarinet, flute, violin, piano, french horn, harp, and even conducting, I've sat in nearly every section of an ensemble at one point or another.
That hands-on experience shapes everything I write. I know what makes a part playable, what a conductor needs on the page to keep things moving, and what actually translates from notation into a great-sounding performance, because I'm the one playing it as often as I'm the one writing it.
I'm also currently working toward studying trumpet performance at university, so choosing me means getting music built by someone who lives inside the ensembles it's written for, and helps a young musician accomplish their dream to study music full-time.
Depends on the size and scale of the project! if it's a small arrangement for a couple of instruments then it could be as low as a couple of days, but for obvious reasons orchestrating a full musical will take longer. I will let you know the estimated turnaround time as soon as I have all the details of a project, but in general you can expect 1-2 weeks.
Of course, if you need something ASAP then for a small charge I can put your project at the top of my queue and get it delivered within a couple of days. If that's still not fast enough, for the low price of 10 cans of Red Bull I will skip sleep and work on your project instead. (This offer is not stackable.)
First, reach out on my contact page! Please include the type of service (composition, arranging, orchestration, or engraving), instrumentation, deadline, and any reference material or inspiration you have in mind.
I'll review the details and send you a quote along with an estimated turnaround time. Once you're happy with the scope and price, I'll ask for a deposit to begin work. I'll then get to work on the piece. If you'd like, I can send you updates at key milestones so you can hear where things are headed rather than waiting until the very end.
Once your piece is finished, you'll receive the draft and have the chance to request changes to make sure the final result matches your vision. I generally offer 2 revisions + the final product.
After revisions are finalized, I'll send the completed score and parts in your preferred format, ready for rehearsal or performance!
Of course, every project is a little different. Exact details will be agreed upon in the quote phase before you send your deposit.
If your timeline or needs don't fit neatly into this process, just reach out and we can figure out the right approach together.
I work across a wide range of ensemble types and sizes! My composition, arranging and orchestration experience includes full orchestra, various types of musical theatre pits, British brass band, concert band, worship bands, and a whole lot of unique groups (once I played with and arranged for a band with 2 violins, a trumpet, clarinet, percussion and guitar!)
No matter what your ensemble size or instrumentation, I likely have hands-on experience with that kind of group, not just theoretical knowledge of how it should sound. In fact, if you want me to write for a specific instrumentation that I am unfamiliar with, I will go and do field research for free of charge so that I can deliver something that actually works well.
