Gadgetron

bespoke Image Reconstruction

Gadgetron is an image reconstruction framework developed at NIH. It allows us to rapidly prototype image reconstruction schemes, for both functional and anatomical applications, online at the scanner. Using Gadgetron allows us to deploy the final methods easily in a seamless fashion for researchers.

The example above shows the benefit of reconstructing data acquired with a CAIPIRINHA acquisition for under-sampling (green) as compared to the standard regular undersampling (purple). The image quality and subsequent parameter quantification, in this case of R2*, are greatly improved. This could be done much more easily by implementing Matlab gadgets. Furthermore, it can easily be transferred between systems.
